Face-to-Face With God

I LOVE this reminder from, Nancy in Seeking Him.

Nancy Leigh DeMoss: In our electronic culture, “face time” is important. When we get face-to-face with someone, we’re more likely to form a deep, intimate connection.
In Exodus 33 we read that the Lord would speak to Moses face-to-face, “as a man speaks with his friend.” It’s amazing that this holy, powerful God would have that kind of relationship with one of His creatures.
Do you know what else is amazing? That kind of intimate friendship isn’t reserved for just heroes of the Bible like Moses. God has invited you and me to be before His face each day listening to Him, learning from Him through His Word, and in prayer.
Have you spent time before His face today?
With Seeking Him , I’m Nancy Leigh DeMoss.

I have been so busy today and have pushed aside my face-to-face time with God. I'm off to do that now.

How about you, "have you spent time before His face today?"

10 Amazing Facts About My Husband

10 Amazing Facts about my Husband

  1. He is the most patient man I have ever met!
  2. He always worked hard for our family.
  3. He is fun!
  4. He is WONDERFUL with the kids. He cares and plays with each of them. They always want daddy’s attention.
  5. He is super smart! Really! He always amazes me with the things he knows and can do.
  6. He always dresses nice.
  7. He loves the Lord with all his heart and seeks out His word.
  8. He is diligent in teaching the kids about God’s word and in instructing them.
  9. He is handy. He can fix and build things around the house, is good with electronics, and with our vehicles. I am always left amazed at what he knows and can accomplish.
  10. He is diligent and memorizing scripture.

I have to brag on my husband, it is Valentines you know! *wink*

When we all got the flu, he was JUST feeling better, but still not feeling well, when the kids and I got sick. He “stepped up to the plate” and took over. You need to remember he hadn’t lived with us due to his job, so this was his first time caring for all of us during a sickness.  He did an amazing job!! He was up with Josiah while he would cry all night. He gave everyone their medicine and fed the kids. He took Naomi to the doctor then that night he took Josiah to the E.R. after VERY little sleep! I am still so thankful, I couldn’t have done all that while being sick.

He is SOOOO amazing with the kids! He plays and plays with the girls. He is always on top of helping care for Josiah’s medical needs. Tomorrow, while we are at co-op, he is taking Josiah to his doctor appointment alone.

He was there for me last week when I had my miscarriage. He let me sleep when I needed it and snuggled with me and let me cry. I am still struggling emotionally and he has been so gentle and patient!

Honestly he should be in charge of cooking not me! *smile* He tends to come over and fuss over my meal that I am cooking. I have learned to let him do what he wants to, because it always comes out so much better! *chuckle* He’s like a professional chef. He tastes this and that, adds this and that, then tastes it again, all the while making funny faces. *smile*

OK, OK…I’ll stop boring you. ;)

"Be My Valentine" Week 4 Challenge

I'm sorry I have been MIA.

The last two weeks have been really tough for our family. There have been several trials that have come up and at this time I can't share much. But I have been away from the computer.

Last week I forsake the "Be My Valentine" challenge for the most part. Sorry!

I love Courtney's idea's for week four. I love her idea of a listing 10 special things regarding your husband and reading it to him. I did something similar but more involved for our anniversary and actually made my husband tear up! He and I joke that he is cold-hearted (his not, just not sentimental. Though he is romantic), so him tearing up is rare!

Do you have any creative ideas or any special plans for this week and Valentine's Day in particular?

We have no money and I mean that very seriously. So we have no fancy plans and are not buying each other things.

I have been trying to be conscious of speaking positively of my husband, especially to or in front of the children. I want them to see that I love and respect their father. I think that is very important.

I'm surprising my husband and making one of his favorite meals! Praise the Lord I was able to get the recipe from my mother in-law.

I am making him....Manhatten Chicken! I can't eat it, so I'll find something else to eat. *smile*

Actually Lord willing, we are going to have part of this coming weekend to ourselves. So I'm not sure if I'll wait until then to make his meal. If so we can have a quite candle-lit dinner. Or we can have a kid chatter filled, candle-lit dinner. *chuckle*

Then I'm planning his favorite dessert...brownies and ice cream. Yum!

Last year I bought him chocolate-covered strawberries. We can't afford it this year, so I'm planning on making him some. I already have the chocolate, so all I need are the strawberries.

I'm going to give them to him with a card. Actually I bought the card last year and forgot to mail it to him. *hangs head in share.* *wink*

Lord willing we can snuggle and watch a movie after the kids are in bed. I miscarried last week, so snuggling is all we will be doing. *wink*

What about you...what are your plans? I would love to hear what your ideas.

Nasal Congestion

Feeling a bit stuffy? Here is an old Russian remedy for nasal congestion. Beware it's a "little" stinky. *wink*

Ingredients:

-1 garlic clove juiced with a garlic press
-1/2 teaspoon Honey
-Aloe Vera (preferably one leaf fresh from the plant)
-Two cotton balls

In a bowl mix half a the garlic juice, honey, and aloe vera. Soak the two cotton balls in the mixture and insert them loosely into  your nostrils for about five minutes.

Garlic into has LOTS of antibacterial properties. Actually if your sick eat raw garlic or dice some up and mix it in honey to eat. My 2 year old had an ear infection, I wish I could have gotten her to eat garlic. That alone can kill the infection (plus adding a few drops of garlic oil into her ear 3 times a day). I had a sinus infection, eat garlic(not fun) but it will kill the infection. The honey has antibacterial properties and is an astringent. The aloe vera will sooth your sore nasal passages.

What are some home remedies that you do you use?
